Possum Trot 2009

January 7th, 2009

The beauty of starting a new year is just that.  It is a new year, a new start, with new hope for being the best we can be.  So it is with Possum Trot.

There are those who have given much of their time, blood, sweat and tears as well as financial donations to make Possum Trot what it is today.  For those, we are thankful.  For those who come and support Possum Trot through attending, participating and visiting with other cowboys and cowgirls, we are most appreciative.  For those who do so much work behind the scenes we are in awe of and are most grateful for their kindnesses and dedication in being a part of the Possum Trot family.

2009 is going to be the best year yet at Possum Trot.  We will meet new shooters and their supporters.  We will nurture each other and support the Possum Trot ways.  We will have fun and fellowship while we do it.

We will grow together as we find new adventures on the wilderness trail.

Here is looking forward to Possum Trot 2009.  We encourage you to come along for the ride and see where you new paths take you.

We Thank ALL of You

November 5th, 2008

We are not sure just where to begin. But we want to thank ALL of our Family and Friends at Possum Trot for the kindness and thougthfulness you ALL have shown to us over the past two years.  It deeply moved us both when a package from Preacher Be Quick arrived and we saw the two “SPIRIT OF THE GAME” awards and two “WINNER” belt buckles in among the items I was expecting. I had to call Preacher and ask him why these items were in the package. I thought maybe they had been placed in the package by mistake. He said, No, It wasn’t a mistake and they were being given to us because our Possum Trot Family and Friends felt we deserved them. Wow, that really moved us both. I gotta say, it did bring tears to my eyes that ALL of you feel this way about us. We thank each and everyone of you from the bottoms of our hearts and souls. We both pray that soon I will be over most of my health problems that have been keeping me sidelined for almost two years. We want nothing more than to be back at Possum Trot shooting all of you.  So, once again we thank all of you for keeping us in your prayers and thoughts.

Preacher, Ya Missed Yer Callin’

November 5th, 2008

Well it’s been awhile since I’ve written any comments in the ole Possum Tales. But Preacher, ya have really moved me with yer poetic poems. You really missed yer callin’. The neat thing about your poems is that you can picture in your mind the person your wrting about and the activity he or she is doing. Preacher, keep up the great job.

Posse Up! #2
by Preacher B. Quick and Kitty Kitty Bang Bang

Chilly, foggy, frosty and crisp,

Cowpokes gathered with guns in fists.

Tall Drink leads off and dings ‘em all,

Whiskey Creek wows us shootin’ outlaw.

Tenn Critr sweeps the jail clean

While Marshall Too Sweet makes targets ring.

Lick Creek’s like lightning through smoky haze

And Bitteroot’s loads leave us all in a daze.

Kitty’s ADs — Are they misses or hits?

Iron Maiden’s new style gives us all fits.

There’s Triple B breezin’ through each stage

But Just Little Joe is showin’ his age.

Preacher B. Quick isn’t as good as his name

And poor ol’ Ringer has come up lame.

Just Hoss cuts loose as does Hoss II

And then we fill up on their barbeque.

Smoke and fire and camaraderie galore,

No cowpoke in the world could ask for more.

September 26, 27, 28, 2008, Tennessee Territory, somewhere near Winfield

As the last Summer Breeze drifted across the main street of Possum Trot, Ardell and Goose Jennings stepped down from the chow hall.  Making their way toward the range, they stopped to get a Tall Drink of Water from Lick Creek Kid-ding each other about the day’s possibilities.  Their thirst was nearly unquenchable due to the large Cherokee Cass-erole filled with Cayenne Four Pepper which Read the rest of this entry »

We Love our Possum Trot

September 21st, 2008

This respectable group of cowboys and cowgirls take a few minutes for pictures before the shoot on September 20, 2008. The safety meeting begins at 9:45 with the match starting shortly after that.

It was certainly a fine day for a shoot and the range was ready and waiting for these folks to show their stuff. We had a great time and encourage you to be a part of our matches. You won’t meet a friendlier group of folks to hang out with. Come give us a try!

New Shooters 2008

September 18th, 2008

Mt. Zion Gypsie and Mt. Zion Yellowboy asked me to pass this along to all of you.

Hello to all of our friends up in TN.

Yellowboy and me just got home from a wonderful stay at Possum Trot. We were able to shoot with some really good cowboys and cowgirls last weekend and had hoped to shoot again this weekend, but family duties called. We are happy to let you know that everything is doing a little better here at home in SC. NO, Yellowboy does not live in Louisiana, but I agree, he sure missed a good chance.

We had a great time staying in your little town and seeing some of the beautiful country side in your area. Our chats with Ernie were super and the accomodations (O.K. Corral) were perfect.

We will be back to visit with you all and enjoy your little piece of heaven. If any of you are ever in the SC area, please look us up. Don’t forget about the Shootout at Givhans Ferry, usually held in the Fall. We look forward to seeing some of you there.
